The present invention relates to a

The conventional edge rounding devices, better known simply by the term edge or corner rounder, are machine tools having a milling tool that is movable along a plane of travel trajectory and is moved to follow the edges of one side of a wood-based panel to give it a rounded profile.
These conventional devices include a support having a horizontal support surface on which a board of wood material or the like can be placed.
Furthermore, these conventional devices include a milling member, which is arranged adjacent to the support.
The milling element is equipped with a tool and designed to move it along a path of movement lying on a work surface that is perpendicular to the support surface.
In addition, the milling device is equipped with a sensing device which serves to detect the position of a lying on the support surface to be processed product and to provide a product position reporting signal.
The milling member is adapted to guide the tool in response to the position signal.
These conventional edge rounding devices are particularly appreciated for their simple construction and reliability.
These perform an extremely limited operation, which is to round off the edges of one side of a panel of wood-based material or the like, this side being parallel to said work surface when the panel is placed on the support surface. For more complex machining today, more and more complex machines such as milling with three axes are used.
The problem underlying the present invention is to provide an edge rounding device which, while maintaining the simplicity and reliability of conventional edge rounding devices, has greater flexibility in labor input.
The main object of the present invention is the realization of an edge rounding device that provides a solution to the above problem and eliminates the deficient disadvantages of the above-described edge rounding devices.
Within the scope of this task, the object of the present invention is to provide an edge rounding device which makes it possible to machine edges of a plate that are not on the work surface when the plate is placed on the support surface.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an edge rounding apparatus which is a structurally simpler alternative to the three axis milling for edge rounding of wood-based panels or the like.
A still further object of the invention is to provide an edge rounding apparatus which can be easily integrated into a panel processing plant and, in particular, is interchangeable with conventional edge rounding apparatus without requiring adjustments to the overall plant in which it is contained.
This object, as well as these and other objectives, which emerge even more clearly from the following description, are achieved with a Kantenrundungsvorrichtung according to the appended claim 1.
The detailed features of an edge rounding device according to the invention are indicated in the dependent claims.
Further features and advantages of the invention will be more clearly illustrated in the following description of a preferred embodiment by no means exclusive of an edge rounding device according to the invention with reference to the accompanying drawings. With particular reference to the aforesaid figures, reference numeral 10 denotes an edge rounding apparatus comprising: a support 11 on which a plate 12 to be processed can be placed; - A milling member 13 which is disposed adjacent to the support 11 and a sensor device 14 for detecting the position of a lying on the support plate 11 12 and a movable main tool 15 includes, which serves the milling along a primary path of movement A, on a Relative to the support 11 fixed work surface B is carried out, depending on the detected by the sensor device 14 position.

The edge rounding device according to the invention has the advantage that it is also able to round off inclined edges D which are not parallel to the work surface B, while maintaining the simple construction of conventional edge rounding devices.
Preferably, the edge rounding device 10 includes an auxiliary tool 16 that extends along a direction Y that is perpendicular to the work surface B to engage the plate 12 along the secondary path C. This preferred design offers the advantage of being able to make minimal changes to the manufacturing method of an edge rounding device according to the invention in comparison to conventional devices, by simply providing the integration of the auxiliary tool 16 into a conventional edge rounding device.
Advantageously, the main tool 15 and the auxiliary tool 16 are coaxial with each other, so that the edge rounding device according to the invention has a simple and compact structure.
In a first embodiment of the present invention, the auxiliary tool 16 is movable along a working direction Y which is perpendicular to the work surface B to mill an edge of the plate 12 along the secondary trajectory C.
